Nick Spear has been a vital part of the Flathead Valley artistic community since he moved here from San Diego in 2007. Lured by the beauty of the mountains and clean air, Nick began establishing himself here as a profound talent, performing in several musicals produced by the Alpine Theater Project, and doing voiceover work for local radio and TV stations. In 2012 he released “A River Below”, an album that resonates with a stark and haunting beauty that follows in the footsteps of great American Folk songwriters.

Spear’s brand of Americana Gothic meanders stylistically between Dead Can Dance, Foals, Leonard Cohen, The National, and Gordon Lightfoot. The album is 11 tracks of sonic wilderness, spacious and contemplative, and explores themes of self-doubt, longing, and finding the unmarked path towards redemption.

Nick is currently working on a new EP to be released in 2014, and is a founding member of the local 80’s cover band 1985: The New Wave Time Trippers. He also frequently plays shows that feature his original songs. Click on “Calendar” to see any upcoming performances.
